Library

The India Study Circle Library is a modest collection of books and articles accumulated by the Society over the last 50 years.  It contains a wide selection of books and articles on Indian Philately and is a valuable source of reference and research.

The library operates on a postal basis where requested items may be loaned or photocopies obtained at modest cost. The library is always expanding, new additions being sought and obtained either through direct purchases or donations from authors or members.

There are libraries of the I.S.C. in the UK and in the United States.

Loans from the UK library are restricted to members in the United Kingdom and Western European Countries.   Members wishing to use the US library should first contact the US Librarian.

Loans and Remittance

All loan requests should be made to the Librarians:

ISC-Americas Librarian  R. E. Manley  rmanley@aoc.com

Loans

Only three items may be loaned at one time. Only 10 articles will be copied per library request. Items not out on loan will be despatched within a few days or they will be forwarded when next available. The normal loan period is one month plus any time for transit; extensions can sometimes be granted. Certain rare items can only be sent if registered both ways. Photocopies may be substituted at the Librarian's discretion, charged at the appropriate rate. All items mailed internationally (outside the UK or USA) will be sent by registered airmail.

Remittance

No remittance need be sent with the first enquiry. Borrowers are responsible for a small loan fee and insurance fee per item borrowed, cost of photocopying, and postage costs in both directions. Rates vary for each Library; contact the Librarians for details.

Additions to the Library

As far as funds permit, new works will be purchased for the Library and reviewed in the Library News. Members who write books relating to the ISC's interests are requested to inform the Librarian. If it is possible it is requested that the author supply a copy of the work for review and/or as a donation to the Library (this would be appreciated and acknowledged).

There are a number of standard works that the ISC has not yet succeeded in obtaining. Any member intending to dispose of literature now or in the future, is asked to give the Library the opportunity of acquiring it.
