One of the aims of the INDIA STUDY CIRCLE FOR PHILATELY is to promote the Study and Research of all aspects of Indian stamps, postal history, and postal methods; including remote areas related to the main subject. These would include all areas of Indian influence; this would include former territories, revenues, thematics, and even fiscals. The ISC membership is diverse and scholarly.
In order to achieve this aim the Circle has appointed a Research Coordinator, whose functions are to examine proposed projects and if warranted recommend a group leader for each project. The coordinator may limit the number of projects.
The final aim of all projects is publication, normally as a part of the Handbook of Indian Philately or in our periodical, India Post. The larger studies may be published in book format.
The Circle actively seeks new projects; these will be set out in India Post, so that ISC members (or others) may participate in the sharing of knowledge and fellowship. When appropriate, progress reports will be distributed to participating members and to the research coordinator. A periodic listing of the groups and their status will be published in ISC India Post.
It is always appreciated and encouraged that many members may wish to conduct personal research into some aspect of Indian Philately, either individually or in conjunction with colleagues. Such members are urged to advise the Research Coordinator of their project, so that a list of each
research activity may be maintained. Occasionally several members may be tackling the same project, independently of one another; in such cases the Research Coordinator can effect the necessary link-up.
Some members will be conducting research with a view to publishing their own books on a particular subject. Such members are urged to use the resources and membership of the INDIA STUDY CIRCLE FOR PHILATELY for maximum information before publishing. In the event that the ISC or its membership does assist in a project before publication it is expected that due acknowledgement be made.
The name and address of the Research Coordinator is shown on the Programme Card issued annually to all members.
